Mundo’s Latin Grill has much planned for their one-year anniversary at their current space within the Turlock Town Center on Golden State Boulevard. The popular restaurant is excited to introduce new menu items as they prepare to host a variety of events.

Veronica Gonzalez is the co-owner of Mundo’s alongside her husband, Gerardo. She spoke about the highly anticipated anniversary celebration on July 9.

“When we relocated last year, it was about nine to 10 years after we bought over the business and we kind of kept it as it was from the original owners,” Gonzalez said. “But when we moved to the current location, we had our own ideas of what we really wanted to do. We re-branded the logo and the whole style is different, and we still haven't finished.”

One of the new features to the restaurant is a full bar. Gonzalez explained that the new bar has over 15 signature drinks available, and they are always adding more.

“We're continuing to experiment and see what people like and I love getting ideas from our customers,” she said.

One of the newest menu items are the margarita flights, which have been a favorite amongst customers for the past few weeks. Gonzalez is hoping that with this new emphasis on drinks, Mundo’s can become a go-to spot for nightlife in Turlock.

“Now that we have this nice bar, we really want to focus on attracting more of a late-night crowd. We’re really busy during the day and then it kind of dies down early evening and we're now trying to reach out to the crowd that stays out a little later so we could utilize the bar a little bit more,” Gonzalez explained.

While there is a new focus on drinks and nightlife at Mundo’s, the restaurant continues to be creative for their loyal daytime crowd. On June 11, they introduced their twist of brunch, which will be served on Saturdays.

“Brunch will be a cool addition for Saturdays. It's something that’s trending and it’s what people are looking for. We’re just trying to cater to what's in. We're going to incorporate more of a Latin twist,” Gonzalez said.

With all of these changes having taken place within their first year at the new space, Gonzalez hopes that the celebration on July 9 can help kick off more growth in year two. The celebration is expected to feature music and keep the restaurant open for extended hours, something that they hope to incorporate moving forward.

“We want to make it fun for people to think of Mundo’s to go hang out on weekends,” she explained. “When you walk into the restaurant it says, ‘Welcome to Mundo’s where you can eat and drink pretty.’ I’ve really focused on the whole ‘pretty’ concept, so if you’ve never come here, come try us out. If you’ve already been, come try the new concept that we have bringing on.”
