The A39 at Nether Stowey was closed in both directions after a three-car collision this morning (June 24). The police have confirmed that four adults and three children were taken to hospital by ambulance.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of a crash between Nether Stowey and Cannington at around 9.50am. Fortunately the injuries sustained to the people involved are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The road closure caused heavy traffic on surrounding roads. It eventually re-opened at around 1pm.

Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement: "Police, fire and ambulance services attended a three-car collision on the A39 between Nether Stowey and Cannington which happened at about 9.50am on Friday 24 June.

"Four adults and three children went to hospital by ambulance. Their injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

"The vehicles were recovered and the road reopened by 1pm."
