Whilst Weston certainly is an important staple in the history of British tourism and beach culture in the UK, the resort may leave some sun-seekers who have never visited before feeling a little cheated due to the absence of powdery white sands and gleaming crystal water. In fact, last week we revealed the humorous TripAdvisor review of one beach-goer who was expecting something more English Riviera than the “dark brown slurry of mud” that they actually experienced at Weston-Super-Mare’s beachfront.

Indeed, if you’re not clued up on what to expect, the expanse of mud flats can somewhat catch you by surprise when you’re armed at the ready with a bucket and spade. The review concluded with: “By 17.50 on our first day the kids were cold as the sky had clouded over, the wind biting if not in a sheltered area. Filth everywhere, unemptied bins and so we left never to return - Crete here we come for half the price!"

It certainly sounds like a package holiday in the Grecian sun might be more up their street than a day trip back to the rather more local Weston. Have your say in the comments below.

So, we want to know what you think of Weston’s beachfront? Maybe you find the traditional donkey rides, abundance of fish and chip shops and arcade-filled Grand Pier endearing and somewhat nostalgic. Or maybe you’ve had a similar experience to the recent reviewer and wouldn't necessarily return.

We want to hear equally about your favourite bits and also the parts you’re not so fond of.

For some, Weston’s beachfront is an iconic destination and for others it’s not exactly their beach of choice and we want to know what you, our readers, think of it. Why not get involved and let us know your opinions in the comments section below.
