A free ice cream cone in your hand? It was mint to be.

Ben & Jerry’s is having its annual Free Cone Day on Tuesday, April 16 as “a way to give back to the community and thank fans for their support,” according to a press release. Free scoops will be handed out at all participating locations from noon to 8 p.m.

“Fans can jump in line as many times as they want for a free scoop,” according to the release. Ben & Jerry’s has several new flavors in time for Free Cone Day: Non-Dairy Strawberry Cheezecake, Impretzively Fudged, PB S’more, and the store-exclusive Mango flavor. If you’re still unsure of what flavor to get, Ben & Jerry’s has a quiz for that.

Free Cone Day started in 1979 at the chain’s original location in Burlington, Vermont to celebrate surviving a tough winter. Fifteen years after the holiday became a global event in 2000, Ben & Jerry’s gave out one million scoops — and it’s looking to achieve that feat again.

The dessert chain brought back Free Cone Day last April after a four-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Stores around the world gave out over 970,000 scoops, according to the release.

“We know together with our fans we can break 1 million scoops,” said Ben & Jerry’s CEO Dave Stever in the release. “We’re asking our fans to really bring it this year: invite their friends, family, neighbors, and help us beat our goal of 1 million scoops on Free Cone Day 2024.”
