I get the preoccupation with the playoffs, but we can’t forget to enjoy this rare Rangers season

If you foresaw this type of season, if you predicted the Rangers would be in the Eastern Conference pole position while holding a share of the NHL’s overall best record with three weeks remaining in the season, then you must be the clairvoyant who had Herb Brooks’ ragamuffins coming away with gold at Lake Placid in 1980.

Of course, the Blueshirts haven’t won anything yet.

They have had a piece of the division lead since the last week of October, but everyone affiliated with the organization understands the 2023-24 Rangers will, for better or worse, be remembered for their playoff performance. That represents the consequence of going on 30 years again.

But that doesn’t mean the season shouldn’t be enjoyed or appreciated.
