In tonight’s Chicago Med episode, it’s Sharon Goodwin’s birthday. She was throwing a small celebration with family. She was going to introduce them to her boyfriend.

She told Dr. Daniel Charles all about it and he was wishing her luck. He himself wished he never met Lilliana’s brother. He loves Lilliana. He just hates her brother.

The same brother that’s suing the hospital. He was suing for malpractice because his arm was put in a sling and he said that hampered him. Pawel didn’t care about using his arm.

He always planned to sue. He tried to get Charles to help him because his original plan was to squeeze painkillers out of his sister’s boyfriend. And when that didn’t work, that’s when he realized he could still get rich by suing the hospital.

Pawel must have figured out a hospital like Chicago Med would settle. He unfortunately wasn’t wrong. Sharon sat in a meeting with the hospital’s lawyer and Dr. Ripley who was also being sued. The hospital wanted to settle the lawsuit by paying Pawel off.

Ripley didn’t feel comfortable with that, but he needed time to think about it. He soon got called down to the ED for an emergency. This woman came in needing urgent medical care and her cult had to be forcible removed because they kept pulling her iv out.

The woman was Shayna. She was a part of a cult known as HTS. The longer term was Heal Thyself. They were run by a woman named Panacea. She supposedly carried around a potion that could heal any ailments and her cult existed mostly online.

It was only the big brass that lived on a compound near the Indiana border. Panacea was also a patient. Her condition was more critical than Shayna’s. The cult was all about stepping away from big pharma and hospitals that “want” to make them sick so that they could charge more.

Meaning Shayna denied all medical intervention once she came to. She didn’t care that she needed surgery. She thought she could drink a potion and be healed. She thought the same for Panacea. CEA for short couldn’t voice her consent or rejection. Only she was someone else’s patient.

Ripley didn’t have to worry about her. He came across Dr. Asher and he apologized again for missing their tea. He finally realized tea was a euphemism. He made his interest known. He wants another chance to have tea with Asher and he’s even making peace with settling the lawsuit.

Ripley doesn’t like settling because he’s a fighter. He wants to fight his way out. He thought settling was wrong and he was only thinking about doing it because he didn’t want the hassle. Not when he was trying to move on with his life. Asher was also still interested.

She let him know in different ways and it was only Dr. Sam Abrams’s wife coming in with their son that ruined the day. Michelle said Mason fell out of his seat. It was a two feet fall. The little boy was crying and so Michelle as a first time mom brought him in because she said she knew something was wrong by the way he cried.

Michelle proved to be right in the sense the little boy had fractured his arm. That could easily be fixed if it wasn’t for the fact that her story about the fall doesn’t make sense with the type of injury. Dr. Archer did an x-ray on Mason. He saw the fracture.

He also told Asher that fracture doesn’t make sense with such a miniscule fall. He had to inform Sharon because Child Protective Services needed to be informed. Asher was against it. She thought they were borrowing trouble. Archer agreed with Sharon that they have a duty to report and what Michelle said happened didn’t make sense.

They called DCFS. They informed Abrams and his wife that DCFS were coming by to talk. Abrams got so upset that he wanted to take his son home. He wanted to leave and they stopped him. They begged him not to make the security guards get involved.

Abrams only agreed to talk to DCFS because his wife said it would be better not to fight. Elsewhere in the hospital, Panacea was declared brain dead. She built a following by claiming she healed her own brain tumor and it turns out she never had one. She lied about that to build her brand.

The doctors couldn’t tell Shayna about what happened. They were stopped by laws. They instead got Panacea’s brother to break the news to Shayna and that finally got Shayna to see she’s needs surgery. It didn’t work on anyone else in the cult. Only it did save a life.

Charles spoke to Ripley after everything and he convinced Ripley not to settle. He said that Pawel has a gambling problem. He said Pawel was used to other people paying off his mistakes and so Ripley decided to use that by digging up dirt on Pawel rather than settling.

Michelle also came clean about what actually happened. She was working from home. She was in bed working on her laptop. Mason started to cry.

She put him on her chest while she was up in bed and she must have fallen asleep because she came to with Mason on the floor with a laptop lying on top of him. Michelle felt so ashamed. She told DCFS everything. They agreed that Mason could stay with his parents. Michelle just has to do a parenting class. Abrams also realized that his wife was tired. She needed extra help at home.

Marcel also took his frustration against Dr. Ahmad against Kai. He backseat drove Kai all throughout surgery until he made a smart remark and Marcel kicked him out of the OR. Maggie called Marcel out on what he was doing. She reminded him that Ahmad had burned threw two other residencies. He couldn’t control her and so he needed to apologize to Kai. And he did that.

And Sharon’s party took a turn when Bert forgot they were divorced. The family met Dennis. They liked Dennis and so Bert crying because he forgot they were divorced made his children feel sad. They knew there was nothing they could do to fix him.

THE END!
