POLICE REPORTS
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 463-6205.
SLASHED TIRES: Caller in the 400 block of East Gobbi Street reported at 9:11 a.m. July 16 that several vehicles in the parking lot had slashed tires. An officer responded and reported that the tires were not slashed, but someone had let the air out of them.

FIRE UNDER FREEWAY: Caller at 12:55 p.m. July 17 reported seeing smoke coming from under the freeway at the Perkins Street Overcrossing. An officer responded and reported that the fire had been extinguished by a California Highway Patrol officer.

DEATH: An officer responded to the Building Bridges overnight shelter at 3:46 a.m. July 18 and took a report of a death. The officer responded to the shelter the next night at 9:08 p.m. for a report of a fight, “approximately 20 to 30 people in the street with candles, yelling and possibly fighting.” The officer reported that the group was holding a vigil, and they were advised to stay out of the roadway.

CAT BITE: An officer responded to the 300 block of Clara Avenue at 10:40 a.m. July 18 and took a report of a cat bite.

WELFARE CHECK: Caller in the 300 block of Peach Street requested at 8:42 p.m. July 19 that an officer check the welfare of someone sleeping in a ditch. An officer responded and reported that the person was “just taking a nap,” and they would be “moving along.”

DEAD CAT: Caller reported at 6:17 a.m. July 20 that a dead cat was in the street in the 1100 block of South Dora Street. Street employees were notified.

ERRATIC BEHAVIOR: Caller in the 300 block of East Perkins Street reported at 1:57 p.m. July 20 that a person was behaving erratically. An officer responded and reported that the person was “contacted and counseled on their behavior” and would be “moving along.” At 2:48 p.m., a caller in the 300 block of South State Street reported that someone was behaving erratically and “chasing people out of the park.” A different officer responded and reported that the person had been “contacted and  counseled on their behavior.

Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant: all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper. The Daily Journal makes no exceptions.
