Despite their negative history, Diane understands that Nikki’s going through a lot and is genuinely rooting for her sobriety.
Diane also realizes Jack has a good heart and that he wants to help Nikki through her struggles.
However, Nikki’s issues are making it so Jack has to spend time with her constantly.
Jack is always running off to support Nikki or even sharing close moments with her right there at the Abbott mansion.
It’s easy to see why Diane is feeling unsettled over Nikki and Jack’s growing bond, especially since they have a history together.
Could Y&R be going somewhere with Diane’s intensifying concerns?
Jack told Diane there was nothing to be insecure about in the April 4 episode, but is that really the case? On soaps, it’s pretty common for a character to say one thing before the exact opposite happens.
For example, someone might say nothing will go wrong at a wedding – only for that wedding to become a total disaster.
That could be what’s happening here too if Jack insists there’s no reason to be insecure when there’s actually a big reason that’ll play out on-screen.
What if Nikki plants a booze-fueled kiss on Jack at some point?
It could lead to Jack and Nikki keeping a secret that’ll ultimately blow up in their faces – both with Diane and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
Then again, Jack might confess what happened to Diane since he’s all about trying to have an honest relationship with her.
Diane might demand that Nikki find a new sponsor, but there could be trouble if Jack fights her on that.
There may even be a situation where Diane witnesses Nikki and Jack’s vodka-driven lip lock for herself, which could definitely offer a chance for some drama!
Bottom line, our predictions hint that Diane’s insecurities may be warranted.
