Just three months into the year, two Massachusetts-based tech companies alone have laid off hundreds of workers, the Boston Business Journal reports.

More than 2,700 jobs across 12 Massachusetts tech companies have been eliminated so far in 2024, according to the publication, which has been tracking tech layoffs in the Bay State.

The publicly traded firms Wayfair and Toast were responsible for the largest rounds of layoffs between January and March, according to BBJ. Wayfair announced in January it is eliminating about 1,650 jobs, with 936 employees at the company’s Boston headquarters affected, including remote roles and about 500 state residents, according to the publication.
