More than five years has passed since Dunkin’ officially dropped the ‘donuts’ from its name. But what if the company reverted and changed course?

In what we can assume is an April Fools’ joke, the Massachusetts-founded company made an “announcement” on social media Monday, writing “now we’re just DONUTS’.” (Yes, the company included an apostrophe at the end of the name.)

Dunkin’ even changed its social media bios to read “America Runs on the DONUTS’” and updated its account profile pictures with the new name.

The company added, “we will have coffee still. pls. don’t ask any other questions.”

“if you’re DONUTS’ we’re COOKIES,” Subway chimed in via the Instagram comments.

The post also noted the possibility of the company selling merch featuring this name change.

“10,000 likes and I rly will make merch,” Dunkin’ added in a comment to the post.
