HAMILTON: What more is there to say about the biggest Broadway hit of recent times? The touring production of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s juggernaut comes to the Dr. Phillips Center on Oct. 26 — less than a week before Election Day. In the musical, Miranda examines the politics and personalities of the country’s founding through the lens of today. More information: drphillipscenter.org

TRUE NORTH: This new holiday musical by Holly and Kelvin Reed will receive its world premiere at Orlando Repertory Theatre beginning Nov. 14. For the family at the heart of the show, the holidays are both joyful and challenging as members deal with the uncertainty of the father’s deployment. But with a wish, a letter and unique seasonal assistance, the Pattersons learn to hold on to belief and the magic of Christmas. More information: Orlandorep.org

ANGELS IN AMERICA, PART TWO: PERESTROIKA: Under the direction of Jeremy Seghers, the first part of “Angels in America” at Valencia College last spring was not only a breath of fresh air but a bracing wind blowing across our current political landscape by looking to the past. The conclusion of Tony Kushner’s epic examination of power and morality during the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s promises to be just as riveting. It opens Feb. 17. A DOLL’S HOUSE, PART 2: Sept. 23-Oct. 1. In the late 19th century, a woman defines life on her terms in this drama by playwright Lucas Hnath, who grew up in Central Florida.

WATER BY THE SPOONFUL: Nov. 11-19. Playwright Quiara Alegría Hudes asks if anger can turn to forgiveness in an age of uncertainty and chaos in this play about creating meaningful connections in a world where everyone lives day to day.

AS YOU LIKE IT: Feb. 17-25, 2023. William Shakespeare’s comic romance reminds us that “All the world’s a stage.”

INTO THE WOODS: April 21-29, 2023. This musical about fairy-tale characters post-happily ever after has a lot to say about how people behave in the real world, too.

TICK… TICK, BOOM: Jan. 20-Feb. 5, 2023. The theater revives its hit production of Jonathan Larson’s musical about a struggling New York composer facing turning 30.

LEND ME A TENOR: March 17-April 2, 2023. When an opera star is presumed dead right before showtime chaos ensues in this Broadway comedy.

LITTLE WOMEN: Sept. 9-26. Based on Louisa May Alcott’s book, four sisters come of age in Civil War-era America.

THE CRAVING: Oct. 7-24. In this comedy, a screenwriter’s dream becomes a nightmare when his emotional script is turned into a zombie slasher film by Hollywood producers.

A NICE FAMILY GATHERING: Nov. 4-21. It’s Thanksgiving and dear departed Dad’s ghost is at dinner, trying to tell his wife he loves her, in this comedy.

THE TRIAL OF SANTA/OPERATION: WHISPERING PINES: Dec. 2-12. A double bill. First, Santa squares off in a TV courtroom against a bratty 9-year-old. Then, six residents of an assisted-living facility face off against their home’s uncaring new owner.

FOUR WEDDINGS AND AN ELVIS: Jan. 13-30, 2023. A comic look at the matches made at a Las Vegas wedding chapel whose owner is four times married herself.

NEWSIES JR: June 2-19, 2023. Children’s version of the musical about the turn-of-the-century newsboys’ strike.

SIX: Oct. 4-9. In this exuberant pop concert, the wives of Henry VIII turn their romantic trials and tribulations with the English king into a celebration of female empowerment.

HAMILTON: Oct. 26-Nov. 20. By using deliberately nontraditional casting and modern musical styles, “Hamilton” looks at the U.S. Founding Fathers, including Alexander Hamilton, through a lens of contemporary American ideas.

TINA — THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL: Jan. 10-15, 2023. Using Turner’s biggest hits, this show recounts the ups and downs of the trailblazing megastar’s life.

RIVERDANCE 25TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW: Jan. 20-22, 2023. The Irish dance troupe that became a global sensation is on the road again.

WICKED: Jan. 25-Feb. 12, 2023. This long-running musical provides an origin story for the witches in “The Wizard of Oz.”

PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL: Feb. 28-March 5, 2023. A stage version of Julia Roberts’ hooker-with-a-heart-of-gold flick.

HARPER LEE’S TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD: March 21-26, 2023. Richard Thomas (the original John Boy on TV’s “The Waltons”) will star as Atticus Fitch, the white lawyer who stands up to racism by taking on the case of a Black man unjustly accused in a 1930s Southern town.

CHICAGO: April 18-23, 2023. A satirical look at America’s flawed judicial system and obsession with celebrities and salaciousness.

MY FAIR LADY: May 9-14, 2023. A brusque professor bets he can turn an English cockney into “a real lady” in this classic musical.

BEETLEJUICE: June 27-July 2, 2023. In this musical comedy based on the hit movie, Lydia Deetz’s life changes when she meets a deceased couple and a demon with a penchant for stripes.

WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?: Sept. 9-18. A couple falls apart over the course of a drunken evening in the Edward Albee drama.

STUPID F***ING BIRD: Nov. 4-13. Aaron Posner’s contemporary take on “The Seagull” looks at love and art and growing up.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL: Dec. 9-18. In Patrick Barlow’s adaptation, five actors bring the classic holiday story to life.

MISERY: Jan. 20-29, 2023. An obsessive fan takes control of an injured novelist in the drama based on Stephen King’s thriller.

THE GLASS MENAGERIE: March. 3-12, 2023. A family struggles to accept its reality in Tennessee Williams’ famed memory play.

SPEECH AND DEBATE: May 12-21, 2023. In Stephen Karam’s dark comedy, teenagers take on a political scandal about closeted gay officials.

STICK FLY: Jan. 20-Feb. 5, 2023. Members of an affluent Black family butt heads discussing race and privilege as secrets are revealed.

NEXT TO NORMAL: Feb. 24-March 12, 2023. The musical compassionately studies how a mother’s struggle with bipolar disorder affects her family.

SOMETHING ROTTEN!: April 21-May 21, 2023. In this zany musical comedy, when a soothsayer predicts musicals will be the next big thing, two brothers in Renaissance England try to write the world’s first one.

DREAMGIRLS: July 7-Aug. 6, 2023. Three friends form a girl group a la The Supremes and ride a roller coaster through the ruthless world of show business in this musical.

GHOST LIGHT THEATRICALS

LILIES: OR THE REVIVAL OF A ROMANTIC DRAMA: Sept. 15-24. A 15th-anniversary production of this love story set against a backdrop of faith, revenge, hypocrisy and enlightenment.

AS IT’S WRITTEN: Sept. 23-Oct. 2. In this drama about internalized homophobia, the pressures of fame and social anxiety, a screenwriter seems to have it all. But her relationship with her ex-best friend raises questions.

TRUE NORTH: A MAGICAL NEW HOLIDAY MUSICAL: Nov. 14-Dec. 22. Uncertainty over a father’s military deployment rattles his children, who learn about believing in the magic of Christmas in this world premiere.

THE LIGHTNING THIEF: Jan. 14-15, 2023. TheaterWorksUSA’s young-person version of the musical based on the book about young Percy Jackson’s mythological adventures.

PIP-SQUEAK: AN ANTI-BULLYING MAGIC SHOW: Jan. 17-20, 2023. Magician Tony Brent uses his skills and comedy to gently teach lessons that combat bullying.

LUCHADORA!: Jan. 30-Feb. 26, 2023. A girl learns about family, honor and friendship in the story of a secret female warrior.

TBA: March 6-April 30, 2023. A recent Broadway musical based on a long-running animated hit television series takes the stage. (Title cannot be disclosed for several weeks, for rights-related reasons.)

MAKE WAY FOR DUCKLINGS: April 11-May 14, 2023. Based on the award-winning book, the musical celebrates parenthood, children and home.

Theatre for the Very Young

These 30-minute shows are interactive, multisensory and developmentally accessible experiences created for children ages 5 and younger. Pirate adventure “Yo, Ho, Ho! Let’s Go” will tour in the fall, and a new show will premiere in the spring of 2023.

NOISES OFF: Sept. 9-25. Personal entanglements drive a second-rate theater company’s production off the rails in this farce.

APOLOGIES TO LORRAINE HANSBERRY (YOU TOO, AUGUST WILSON): Oct. 7-30. The establishment of an all-Black state doesn’t eliminate tricky questions of racism and personal identity in this dystopian drama.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL: Dec. 2-24. Charles Dickens’ classic tale of Scrooge, ghosts, greed and redemption makes a return in artistic director Jim Helsinger’s adaptation.

HENRY V: Jan. 20-Feb. 5, 2023. Shakespeare’s action-packed play of desperate battles, an assassination plot and fiery speeches including the famed “Once more unto the breech.”

LADY DAY AT EMERSON’S BAR AND GRILL: Feb. 10-March 4, 2023. Legendary singer Billie Holiday reflects on her life during a concert just a few months before her death.

KINKY BOOTS: April 7-30, 2023. A strait-laced Englishman inherits his father’s failing shoe factory and forges a surprising partnership with a drag queen in this upbeat comedy.
