With the many entertainment choices New York City has to offer, it can be difficult to make a choice. Look no further. “On Stage” host Frank DiLella has curated a list of “must-see” shows this week, directing you to the best of Broadway, off-Broadway and beyond.

“Cabaret”

Welcome to “Cabaret,” the highly anticipated award-winning London revival has made its way across the pond and is now in previews at The Kit Kat Club — otherwise known as the August Wilson Theatre. Set in the 1930s in Berlin, Sally Bowles keeps the party going inside while the world outside is deteriorating. This immersive production stars Oscar and Tony Award-winner Eddie Redmayne as The Emcee alongside Gayle Rankin as Sally Bowles. The show officially opens on April 21.

“Suffs”

Following a sold out run off-Broadway at The Public Theater, “Suffs” has marched its way uptown to The Music Box Theater. The new musical, which centers around the suffrage movement, is written by Shaina Taub and stars Taub alongside Broadway favorites Jenn Colella, Nikki M. James and Emily Skinner. The show is directed by the great Leigh Silverman and is now in previews. Opening is set for April 18.

“Corruption”

On the off-Broadway front, don’t miss “Corruption” now playing at Lincoln Center’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre. The show explores the story behind the phone hacking scandal that rocked Rupert Murdoch’s empire. “Corruption” is written by J.T. Rogers and features direction by one of my theater favorites: Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher. The show is playing through April 14.

“Gun and Powder”

Across the river in New Jersey, Paper Mill Playhouse is currently presenting the new musical “Gun and Powder.” The thrilling work is inspired by the true story of Mary and Martha Clarke — African American twins who go to great lengths to settle their mother’s sharecropper debt and save her home. The musical is playing through May 5. For tickets, go to papermill.org.

Peter Cincotti

And finally, piano man extraordinaire Peter Cincotti is back at The Carlyle every Monday of this month tickling the ivories and singing tunes from the American songbook and much more. For more information, go to petercincotti.com.
