Two dead, five wounded in overnight Virginia shooting outside Old Dominion University

Seven people, including several Norfolk State University students, were shot about a mile away from the Norfolk, Va., campus of Old Dominion University just after midnight Sunday, according to police.

Police responded to the scene around 12 a.m. and found seven victims, all of whom were rushed to the hospital, the Norfolk Police Department said. Of the seven, four were men and three were women.

Five of the victims sustained non-life threatening injuries and two have life-threatening injuries.

Zabre Miller, 25, and Angelia McKnight, 19, died Sunday at the hospital, according to police.

Norfolk State University tweeted that “several” students were wounded in the off-campus shooting.

The university campus was secured and the school called it an “isolated” incident.

Norfolk State said it would provide counseling for any students.

“As always, we encourage the campus community to remain vigilant of their surroundings,” the school said.

No arrests have been announced and a spokesperson for the Norfolk Police Department did not immediately return a request for updates from the Daily News Sunday.
