IHSAA football Week 3: Vote for The Star Press high school Player of the Week

MUNCIE, Ind. — Week 3 of the IHSAA football season was a rough one for most East Central Indiana teams.

Just two of the 10 local squads won their game, but there were still several standout individual performers who deserve recognition. Here is your chance to vote on the area's top performer from Week 3.

This week's Star Press football Player of the Week nominees include: Shenandoah's Dylan Ayres, Jay County's Sean Bailey, Delta's Marquel Bond, Yorktown's Kolton Nanko, Muncie Central's Josiah Ullom and Winchester's Jorge Vasquez.

Dylan Ayres, Shenandoah: The Raiders senior had another notable two-way performance this week. Although Shenandoah lost 33-21 to Lapel, Ayres tallied 91 rushing yards and one touchdown on 12 carries, caught three passes for 53 yards, and defensively added five tackles, two TFL's and two sacks.

Sean Bailey, Jay County: The Patriots sophomore quarterback was perfect in his team's 41-6 victory over Southern Wells, completing all seven of his passing attempts for 221 yards and two touchdowns.

Marquel Bond, Delta: The Eagles senior was consistently effective in Delta's 42-7 victory over Shelbyville, totaling 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just eight carries. He also caught one pass for 18 yards and scored on a two-point conversion.

Kolton Nanko, Yorktown: The Tigers senior receiver was his team's most effective offensive weapon in its 50-13 loss to New Palestine, catching nine passes for 111 yards while adding 172 yards on just four kickoff returns. He also made two field goals and converted a PAT.

Josiah Ullom, Muncie Central: The Bearcats senior led a solid rushing attack in the team's 37-12 loss to McCutcheon, tallying 105 rushing yards and two scores on just seven carries.

Jorge Vasquez, Winchester: Vasquez was one of the bright spots in Winchester's 42-14 loss to Northeastern, carrying the ball 19 times for 113 yards, one TD and one two-point conversion. He also notched 48 kick return yards and two tackles on defense.
