ECI volleyball Week 4 recap: Latest milestones, results and standings at 2022 midseason

MUNCIE, Ind. — It's officially the midway point of the 2022 IHSAA volleyball regular season.

East Central Indiana, as always, has several contending teams, and several individuals have also consistently put the area on notice with their strong play.

Its was another busy few days on the schedule, so here's a Week 4 recap of the 2022 ECI volleyball season:

  • Yorktown and Wapahani move in latest Z-ratings: In the latest Indianaprepvolleyball.com and IHSVCA Z-ratings released on Monday, Yorktown moved up one spot to Class 4A No. 2, and Wapahani moved down to 2A No. 2.
  • Daleville's Amarah McPhaul verbally commits to play at Ohio Wesleyan University: The Broncos senior on Saturday announced her verbal commitment to continue her academic and athletic career at Div. III Ohio Wesleyan University. McPhaul has totaled 260 kills and 69 blocks in her two-year varsity career, according to MaxPreps.
  • Yorktown sophomore Charlotte Vinson notches 500th career kill: With 15 kills in her team's sweep over Brownsburg on Saturday, the Tigers sophomore OH surpassed 500 kills in her short high school career. She is currently averaging 3.8 kills per set and has increased her hitting percentage by 0.025% this year.
  • Blackford's Lilee Lamotte surpasses 1,000 career receptions: Tying her season high in receptions with 21 in Blackford's 3-1 loss to Norwell on Sept. 8, the senior surpassed 1,000 receptions in her high school career.
  • Jay County's Brenna Haines gets her 1,000th career reception: Despite her team's 2-1 loss to Noblesville on Sept. 10, the Patriots junior's 14 receptions helped her eclipse 1,000 for her high school career.

Notable individual performances

  • Macie Bowden, Wapahani: In the team's 3-1 win over Burris on Sept. 8, Bowden tallied a season-high 50 assists, as well as 13 digs and one block.
  • Caitlyn Campbell, Winchester: The Golden Falcons senior helped her team to a 3-1 win over Hagerstown on Sept. 8 by notching season-highs in kills (15) and receptions (26) and a career-high 23 digs, as well as three aces, two assists and five blocks.
  • Chloe Cook, Wapahani: In the Raiders' 3-1 win over Burris on Sept. 8, the senior notched a season-high 17 kills, one ace, one block and three digs.
  • Maciah Driskill, Blue River: In her team's sweep at Liberty Christian on Sept. 6, the Vikings junior tallied a team-high 18 kills, 13 digs, one ace and three receptions.
  • Brenna Haines, Jay County: In her team's 3-1 win over Bluffton on Sept. 6, the Patriots junior tallied a career-high 37 receptions, 30 digs, one ace and three assists.
  • Emilee Hill, Yorktown: The Tigers senior leader tallied nine kills, 19 digs, 23 assists, two receptions and one block in her team's 3-2 loss to top-ranked Hamilton Southeastern on Sept. 6.
  • Lilly Howell, Muncie Burris: While the Owls fell 3-1 to Wapahani, Howell notched a solid all-around performance, leading her team in kills (10), aces (three) and blocks (eight) while adding five digs and six receptions.
  • Libby Miler, Muncie Central: In the Bearcats' sweep of Marion on Sept. 7, the senior notched a season-high 30 assists, two aces, one block and two digs.
  • Jaelyn Morris, Blackford: In the Bruins' 3-1 loss to Norwell on Sept. 8, Morris had a solid performance with 27 digs, 14 receptions, two kills and a career-high six aces.
  • Addie Phillippe, Delta: In her team's sweep of Muncie Burris on Wednesday, the sophomore tallied 36 assists, one kill, one aces and six digs.
  • Mallory Robbins, Delta: Although the Eagles lost 3-2 at Pendleton Heights on Sept. 6, the senior notched 35 digs, more than double her previous career high, while also adding five assists.
  • Mya Trammell, Muncie Burris: In the Owls' losses to Delta and Wapahani last week, the freshman earned her season-best mark of 28 receptions in consecutive matches.
  • Charlotte Vinson, Yorktown: In the Tigers' 3-2 loss to top-ranked Hamilton Southeastern on Sept. 6, the sophomore OH tallied 14 kills, one ace, two blocks, five digs and four receptions.
  • Camryn Wise, Wapahani: In the Raiders' 3-1 win over Burris on Sept. 8, Wise had arguably her best all-around performance of the year, notching a career-high 11 digs and setting season highs in kills (18) and blocks (six) to go along with two aces.
  • Ella Young, New Castle: In the Trojans' sweep of Shelbyville on Sept. 6, the junior notched a season-high 16 kills, tying the best single-match total for her career, while adding six digs and two receptions.
