Candidates running for the two seats on the Arizona Corporation Commission that voters will decide in the November election will debate at 5 p.m. Monday, with the event streamed on azcentral.com and broadcast on Arizona PBS, Channel 8.

The hourlong debate is presented by the Citizens Clean Election Commission, which provides public funding for campaigns. All of the candidates in this year's race are accepting public funding.

Arizona Horizons host Ted Simons and Arizona Republic reporter Richard Ruelas will moderate the debate.

Incumbent Sandra Kennedy is running with Tempe Councilwoman Lauren Kuby for the Democrats.

The Republican candidates are Mesa Councilman Kevin Thompson and commission policy adviser Nick Myers.

The Corporation Commission oversees most electric, water and gas utilities and sets rules for those companies, such as when they can disconnect customers for nonpayment and how much renewable energy they should use.
