Cross-country: Paynesville/BBE competes at LQPV invite

Paynesville boys and girls both finish in eighth place

LONG PRAIRIE — The Paynesville girls took eighth and the Paynesville/Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa boys also were eighth in their respective divisions of the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Cross-Country Invitational at Long Prairie Country Club on Monday.

Melrose’s girls and St. John’s Prep’s boys were the team champions.

Melrose scored 61 points. Paynesville/BBE finished with 175.

On the boys side, St. John’s Prep had 54 and Paynesville/BBE finished with 208.

LPGE’s Caroline Kuhne took first with a time of 19 minutes, 53.20 seconds. Paynesville/BBE’s Madison Wendlandt took fourth in 21:38.30.

The boys’ winner was Brandon Kampsen of Sauk Centre, who had a time of 16:14.08.
