The Boulder County Public Works’ Resource Conservation Division has begun accepting applications for its 2023 Zero Waste Funding Program, the county has announced.
Established in 1997, Zero Waste Funding projects provide businesses and organizations with the goal to award initiatives that promote waste reduction and diversion from landfills and “closing the waste loop through circular economy practices,” according to their website.
This year’s project focus will be on circular economy progress and supporting newly passed legislation in Colorado relating to plastic pollution reduction, extended producer responsibility and contamination in organic waste diversion.
Applications can receive a minimum funding of $1,000 for a project, with a maximum of $15,000. Local governments, nonprofit organizations, school districts, schools, and private companies may apply as long as the scope of the project relates to Boulder County and insurance requirements are met.
