According to a Wednesday release from the Boulder County sheriff’s office, Lafayette resident Alexander Staffa was arrested on charges of possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material on a social messaging application.

Staffa has been charged with two felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child, one for possession and one for possession with intent to distribute. The charges are Class 5 and Class 3 felonies, respectively.

The Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force initially received information about Staffa from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. A search warrant was executed on Aug. 11 at Staffa’s residence in the 2000 block of Gyros Circle in Lafayette, where police located additional evidence.

Staffa has been booked into the Boulder County Jail and is being held without bond.

The Boulder County District Attorney’s Office, Boulder Police Department, Longmont Department of Public Safety and Lafayette Police Department all assisted the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
