Logan Eilbacher was honored as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Rookie of the Week for Division III from Catholic University.

Eilbacher was a standout at Notre Dame before heading to Catholic.

The honor marks the first time in Catholic baseball program history a player was named the NCBWA Division III National Rookie of the Week.

Eilbacher was also named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week and he received D3baseball.com Team of the Week honors.

Eilbacher becomes the second national honoree in program history and first rookie to grab the national nod.

He has taken full advantage of his opportunity in 2024, raking to the tune of a .375 average with five home runs and 17 RBI. The freshman is slugging .851 and holds a team-best OPS of 1.267.

Eilbacher hit .700 (7-10) with at least two hits in all three games.

The freshman backstop split time behind the dish and at DH while adding a double, a triple, and two home runs.

Eilbacher is batting .317 with five home runs and 18 RBI.

Burns Gets PSAC Honor

Michael Burns (Truman) was spectacular at the plate in Kutztown’s first PSAC East series win of the season over Lock Haven.

Burns, a junior, went 8-for-17 over the four games with eight RBIs, four runs, and two extra-base hits.

He leads Kutztown with a .402 batting average and 35 hits while adding 20 RBI

Edwards Named MAC Player of the Week

Matt Edwards (Neshaminy) went 6-for-12 with six runs scored and six RBIs as Alvernia swept Eastern earning him the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Division Player of the Week.

Edwards hit a solo homer and had six putouts in the field without an error in the opener.

He then went 3-for-4 with another homer, five RBIs, and three runs scored in a 16-6 win over Eastern in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader.

Edwards combined for 15 putouts and two assists in the doubleheader.

Baseball: Sam Ruta (Pennsbury) was 2-for-3 with three runs and matched a single-game program record with eight RBIs in Army’s win over Holy Cross. He homered twice, including a grand slam and was named to the Patriot League Honor Roll. ….Evan Bresnen (Steinert) batted .500 (7-14) with three runs and two steals in three games last week. Bresnen has a 10-game hitting streak with multiple hits in nine of them. Tucker Elder (Ewing) had a solid week for Stockton, as well, with two doubles, a home run and a team-best eight RBI and he added a walk-off home run in Stockton’s win over Montclair State. …Jordan Nitti had an RBI single to get Stockton started in a win over TCNJ.

Men’s Lacrosse: Calvin Caputo (Princeton Day) had five goals and five assists in a pair of games for Williams. … Will Doran (Princeton) had a career high four goals for Williams in a game with Tufts.

Men’s Swimming and Diving: Ethan Weiss (Northern Burlington) was First Team All-NJAC in the 1-meter dive. …Toby Cahnbley (WW-P North) was Second Team All-NJAC from Rowan in the 500 Freestyle and the 800 Free Relay along with Third team in the 400 Free Relay

Women’s Golf: Elenora Byrne (WW-P South) shot an 87 for Stockton in the Garden State Collegiate Classic and she followed that up with a career best 86 to finish second in the Stockton Invitational.

Women’s Lacrosse: Julia Gorajek (Peddie) was named to the Patriot League Honor Roll after scoring a season high five goals for Army in a game with Navy. …Brooke Ross (Lawrenceville) has 14 goals and nine assists for Davidson. …Emelie Curtis (Pennsbury) has eight goals and 16 assists for Duquesne.

Women’s Tennis: Prisha Priyadarshin (WW-P South) won at second doubles and No. 4 swingles for TC NJ in a match with Drew.
