Skyline’s Logan Miller had one of the best receiving performances in state history in the Falcons’ 33-21 win over Longmont Thursday, catching 10 passes for an unofficial count of 290 yards and four touchdowns.

If that does indeed end up being the official mark, Miller’s performance would be tied for the state’s 14th-most receiving yards in a single game.

He would move ahead of Fairview grad and current Colorado State defensive back Henry Blackburn, who had 284 receiving yards on Halloween in 2019.

The mark would mirror a 2014 performance from Longmont Christian grad Cameron Jauregui. The former multi-sport standout still holds the state’s best mark when he had 362 receiving yards in a game in 2016. It came a week after he posted 356, third all-time.

In this week’s recap of the local football scene, BoCoPreps.com teams went 9-5 through Friday night. Last week, teams went 10-4.

Below is a recap of scores and highlights from Thursday and Friday. Saturday, in the only area game, Prospect Ridge (1-2) hosts Manitou Springs (2-1).

Friday night

Legacy 38, Legend 24: Kullen Lerma had four total touchdowns, including three on the ground, and the Lightning and their first-year coach Jay Madden have won three straight.

Against the ninth-ranked team in Class 5A, Lerma hit Marcus Romero for the pair’s third TD connection of the season to put Legacy (3-2) ahead 24-7 in the second quarter. He added his third rushing score of the night in the fourth, a 14-yard run that made it 38-24.

Brandon Sanchez, the school’s premier middle infielder in baseball, had earlier scored on an 11-yard rush to put the Lightning ahead 14-0 in the first quarter. It was his first TD of the season.

Last week, Legacy beat then-ranked No. 10 Mountain Vista 41-28.

Legacy is at Rangeview Thursday.

Fairview 24, Douglas County 17: Tied 17-all, senior Zach Lewis scored his second rushing TD of the night in the fourth quarter to lift Fairview to 4-1 on the season.

Lewis’ 7-yard run was the game-winner as the Knights and their usual pass-crazed offense scored all three of their TDs on the ground against the Huskies. Jace Hines had the other TD.

This season, Fairview’s rushing attack has been more productive than usual, totaling nine of the team’s 21 offensive TDs.

Coach Tom McCartney and company will face Boulder at 5 p.m. Friday at Recht Field.

Silver Creek 33, Greeley West 14: Eli Mires threw one TD pass to Birch Neeld, and another late in fourth to Bubba Fisk to give the Raptors a two-score separation.

Mires and Neeld have now connected for four TDs in five games this season for the Raptors (3-2). They had a pair of scores against Boulder two weeks ago.

Cole Rogers added rushing TDs of 3 and 32 yards to give him eight scores on the season. The back was named among the team’s most exciting playmakers by coach Brian McGee prior to the season.

Silver Creek will face Skyline at Everly-Montgomery Field next Friday.

Erie 42, Windsor 14: Erie quarterback Blake Barnett threw for three touchdowns and the 4A No. 10 Tigers snapped a two-game losing streak. The standout junior now has 10 TD passes in five games this season.

Trey Khanna caught a TD and rushed for another for Erie (2-3), while Gavin Lusk had a pair of rushing scores.

The Tigers are at No. 5 Loveland next Friday.

Frederick 48, Fort Morgan 14: The Golden Eagles won for a second straight week under their first-year coach Matt Loyd.

Frederick (3-2), which edged Silver Creek last week, 29-27, has scored 20 or more points in each of its first five games.

It’s on bye next week and hosts Niwot Oct. 7.

Broomfield 32, Brighton 7: The gauntlet that is 4A No. 2 Broomfield (5-0) continued its domination in Week 5 with its fifth straight win by at least three touchdowns.

The Eagles, who trailed 7-0 before scoring the next 32 on the Bulldogs, are at No. 7 Dakota Ridge next Friday.

Centaurus 49, Palmer 24

Niwot 42, Battle Mountain 13: The Cougars are 3-1 for the first time since 2019.

The Coyotes (2-3) allowed two pick-sixes in the opening half, falling down 27-0. They’ll look to regroup at home against Pueblo South next Saturday.

Durango 42, Mead 14: The 3A third-ranked Demons handed the No. 10 Mavericks (1-3) their third straight loss, changing the narrative of a 14-all game with 28 straight points to end things.

Cole Michaelis had a TD in the opening quarter for Mead and Taylon Adler connected with Sean Medlock for a 35-yard score to knot things at 14 in the second.

Durango responded with a TD before the half and another out of the break.

Mead travels to No. 4 Green Mountain next Friday.

Roosevelt 42, Holy Family 20: Rylan Cooney threw and ran for a touchdown in a 14-all opening quarter between 3A No. 7 Holy Family (2-2) and the top-seeded Roughriders.

But things got away from the Tigers rather quickly after that.

Roosevelt scored the next 28 points.

Holy Family’s junior quarterback finished with 238 passing yards and Jaxon Grable added 101 receiving yards and a score in the loss. The Tigers have lost three straight to Roosevelt.

Holy Family hosts Conifer next Friday.
