Paparazzi captured images of a surprising family gathering in the upscale beach town of Long Branch, New Jersey, on Monday.
Ivanka Trump, her husband Jared Kushner and their three children were spotted with his brother, Joshua Kushner, and Joshua’s supermodel wife, Karlie Kloss, arriving at the Kushner family estate after attending temple to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Daily Mail reported.

The gathering was surprising because the proudly progressive Kloss has gone out of her way to maintain a polite public distance from Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, due to their controversial work as senior advisers in Donald Trump’s White House.
But photos published in the Daily Mail show that Kloss and her husband joined her sister- and brother-in-law for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, where people are encouraged to reflect and repent on the past year’s failings. Ivanka and Jared were accompanied by their children, Arabella, 11, Joseph, 8, and Theodore, 6.
Ivanka Trump converted to Judaism before she married into the Kushner family. Jared and Joshua Kushner were seen chatting for a moment before parting ways as Kloss sipped coffee and grabbed onto her husband’s arm, the Daily Mail said.
The holiday gathering comes less than a week after New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit against former President Trump. The massive civil lawsuit accuses him, Ivanka Trump and his two oldest sons, Don Jr. and Eric, of engaging in large-scale financial fraud at their Trump Organization family real estate business.
After Trump was elected president in 2016, Kloss was open about voting for Hillary Clinton and admitted she didn’t agree with Trump’s conservative politics, but she always stopped short of criticizing her brother- and sister-in-law during their time in the White House.
However, the supermodel came under fire on social media immediately following the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. People online railed against her for claiming she “tried” to speak to Ivanka and Jared about their loyalty to Trump and his more incendiary policies and rhetoric.
Kloss’s followers blasted her for failing to use her powerful Twitter and Instagram accounts, where she had a combined 14.6 million followers, to publicly criticize her in-laws, even after Trump lost the 2020 election but continued to spread false claims of election fraud. Notably, Ivanka was with her father at the rally when he encouraged his followers to march on the U.S. Capitol, and she called them “American patriots” after their march turned violent.
On Jan. 6, 2021, Kloss went on Twitter to express horror about the Capitol violence, saying that refusing to accept the results of a legitimate democratic election and inciting violence is “anti-American.” When a follower urged her to “tell your sister-in-law and brother-in-law,” backlash poured in when Kloss replied “I’ve tried.”
People online also noted the ways that Kloss and her husband appeared to privately maintain strong social and financial ties with their controversial relatives, even throughout Trump’s four years in office.
Reports have documented how Joshua Kushner’s venture capital business, interests and wealth — and therefore, Kloss’s wealth — are tied up with Jared Kushner. People also noted that Trump, before he left office, pardoned Kloss’s father-in-law, Charles Kushner, a real estate mogul who served two years in prison for illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and witness tampering.
After the backlash over the Capitol attack, Kloss retreated from social media for some months. During that time, she gave birth to her and Joshua’s son.
Kloss has since returned to social media to promote her modeling and business ventures. It also appears that she and her husband have stayed close to Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner geographically. They bought a mansion in Miami in the summer of 2020. Jared and Ivanka moved to Miami after leaving the White House.
Kloss briefly faced scrutiny again for her ties to Ivanka Trump and other controversial people following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February.
One of the only times that Kloss and Ivanka Trump were photographed in public together was at the 2016 U.S. Open Tennis Championships. But sitting between them at the men’s singles final match was their jet-setting friend Dasha Zhukova, who was then the wife of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
Russia’s attack on Ukraine prompted the U.K. and E.U. to impose sanctions on Abramovich, a close ally of President Vladimir Putin, forcing him to sell off his Chelsea Football Club and his 15-bedroom mansion near Kensington Palace. Zhukova, who divorced Abramovich in 2019 and reportedly lives in New York City, tried to distance herself from her ex-husband and condemned her native Russia’s “brutal and horrific invasion.”
