Fargo couple found partially liable for sex assault at house party

FARGO (KVRR) – A Cass County jury has ruled in favor of a woman who claims she was sexually assaulted as a minor while she attended a house party in Fargo.

The owners of the home were ordered to pay the victim $250,000. The woman says the assault took place in 2019.

According to court documents, the minors at the party snuck alcohol into the home, and sometime during the night the victim was assaulted by another minor at the party.

The jury found the homeowners 40% liable. The lawsuit alleged the homeowners failed to prevent the minors from consuming alcohol and failed to enforce a curfew.

The victim’s attorney, Lindsay Wils, says her client is thankful for the jury’s consideration.

The jury also found that a minor who allegedly carried out the assault is 58% liable, but he was not a defendant in the case.
