MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Just days after Chester Frazier’s hiring as the new associate head coach at WVU, a pair of Frazier’s former players at Illinois have committed to join the Mountaineers.
On Sunday afternoon, 6-foot-3 guard Sencire Harris and 6-foot-8 forward Amani Hansberry verbally committed to play at West Virginia.
Harris is a native of Canton, Ohio. He played at St. Vincent-St. Mary, the alma mater of LeBron James.
Harris played in 33 games during his freshman season with the Illini in 2022-2023, making seven starts. He averaged 3.7 points per game at 2.1 rebounds per game.
Harris sat out this past season as a redshirt. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Hansberry is a native of Silver Spring, Md. He played one season at Illinois. In 19 games, Hansberry averaged 2.4 points per game and 2.1 rebounds per game.
