Monsters clinch AHL North championship, first-round bye

The Monsters defeated host Toronto, 3-1, on April 21 to clinch the AHL North Division championship.

Cleveland (40-24-5-3) won its last three games to surpass Syracuse and Rochester in the standings.

Trey Fix-Wolansky scored two goals, giving him 26 for the season. Roman Ahcan added an empty-net tally for the final margin.

Jet Greaves saved 30 of the 31 shots he faced. He has 61 victories, the most in franchise history.

Next up for the Monsters is the North Division semifinals against the winner of Belleville and Toronto on a date to be determined.
