Northern Colorado’s home softball game Saturday against Big Sky Conference opponent Idaho State was canceled because of snow and will not be replayed, Bears coach Dedeann Pendleton-Helm said.
The teams were scheduled to play at noon Saturday at Gloria Rodriguez Field in the third and final game of the Bears’ final home series of the regular season. Idaho State (5-3 Big Sky, 22-21 overall) swept UNC in the series’ first two games Friday.
Saturday’s game was scheduled as senior day for six UNC players: Erin Caviness, Alyssa Wenzel, Lauren Strathearn, Jayden Gandert, Ali Steinker and Kate Rehberg.
Pendleton-Helm said the players will be honored Sunday during a team brunch.
UNC (7-4 Big Sky, 22-21 overall) will be on the road for the rest of the regular season and likely for any postseason games if the Bears advance beyond the Big Sky tournament.
UNC is scheduled to play three games at Portland State April 26-27 in its last Big Sky series of the regular season. UNC’s last regular-season game is scheduled for April 28 at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
The Big Sky Conference Tournament is May 8-11 at Idaho State in Pocatello. UNC is the defending conference tournament champion.
