The Bidwell Women’s Golf Club held a Turkey Tournament last week counting three holes on the back nine and six holes on the front nine for its game.
The numerous turkeys roaming the course were safe for another year and that also goes for the deer that have made the course their year-round habitat.

Table Mountain Golf Course
Sally Stemen was low gross in the Table Mountain Women’s Golf Club Stroke Play, Turkey Shootout Tournament last week with a score of 78.
Liz Coleman shot 7-under her handicap for a net 65 to claim low net honors.

Two members of the Table Mountain Women’s Golf Club, Tracie Cvitkovich and Debra Miller, traveled to the Renaissance Esmerelda Resort at Indian Wells last week and participated in the NCGA Ladies Palm Springs Classic.
The three-day tournament was played at the Desert Willow, the Classic Club and the Shadow Ridge Resort courses. Both players held their own in the 3-day event, finishing in the top 10, but didn’t bring home the bacon, or a turkey.
Canyon Oaks Country Club
The Canyon Oaks Senior Men’s Golf Club held its November Sweeps last week.
The tournament had another good turnout of its members, thanks, no doubt, to the efforts put forth by the Senior Men’s Club President and its Tournament Chair, Bob Kromer.
The format was three man teams playing a “Net Best 27,” wherein each team decided before teeing off on the next tee, how many net scores (0-3) to keep from the previous hole.
Each team needed 27 net scores recorded before the end of the round.
Taking first was the team of Jim Moon, Bob O’Sullivan and George Palmer, with a great score of 56. The team of Peter Finkle, Paul Montz and Greg Webb shot a net 59 for the second spot. Tying for third place, with a score of 61, was the team of Alex McKenzie, Tom Peppas and Jim Ponzio, along with the team of Rick Barrett, Art Schreiber and Lee Watrous.
Closest to the pin winners: No. 3, Barrett; No. 6, Paul McIntosh; No. 11, Watrous; No. 14, Dave Kelly.
Also getting into the holiday spirit, the Canyon Oaks Women’s Golf Club played a three-player, “Turkey Trot, Step Aside Scramble” for its weekly game. The player whose shot was chosen was not allowed to hit the next shot. Game: 1, Gina Davis, Cathy Edgar and Sally Pearson, 70; 2, Linda Arellano, Nancy Dooly and Cynthia Paulo, 72. Closest to pin on No. 14: 1, Vickie Spelts; 2, Dooly; 3, Paulo.
Butte Creek Country Club
The Butte Creek Senior Men’s Club held its monthly tournament last week, following breakfast which was included in the entry fee.
The format for the “Goodie” tournament was individual medal play. A brisk breeze and “slick” greens accounted for the higher than normal scores.
Mike Rutledge was low gross on the day with a score of 78. Top net finishers: 1, Mike Bechtol, 74; 2, tie, Royal Hawkley and Kevin Parrish, 77. 4, tie, Mark Blofsky and Tom Beckman, 78; 6, Dave Smith, 79; 7, Adam Harrison, 80; 8. Rovane Younger. The winners could select either a pie, or cookies of their choosing.
The Butte Creek Women’s Golf Club held a Turkey Shoot for its weekly tournament.
The awards to the top finishers were gift cards to the Great Harvest Bread Co.

Spectacular shots
Greg Webb scored an eagle-two on the No. 7 hole at Canyon Oaks recently. Webb’s playing companions, Pete Finkle and Lou Radisich, watched Webb’s 135-yard, 8-iron approach shot find the bottom of the cup on the 345-yard, par-four hole.
