Grand Forks man charged with attempted murder, accused of strangling co-worker

Alexander Thompson 1

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO/KVRR) – A Grand Forks man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly strangling a co-worker twice, once with an extension cord.

Court records show Alexander Thompson, 27, got into a fight with a co-worker while at work Monday. During the fight, Thompson choked his co-worker with his hands until other co-workers separated the two.

After the initial confrontation and while his co-worker was walking away, Thompson is accused of grabbing an extension cord, and wrapping it around his co-worker’s neck. Court records say, during the strangulation, the co-worker’s eyes rolled back in their head and they lost consciousness.

Other co-workers heard Thompson say, “I’m going to kill you,” before they were able to intervene again.

The victim suffered a broken collar bone and broken rib.

Thompson is also charged with two counts of aggravated assault. He’s being held in the Grand Forks County jail.
