A warrant was filed for Shamblin on Nov. 23, a day after the stabbing incident took place. On Monday, the Sheriff’s Office began to aid in the investigation.

According to a press release issued Thursday by the Sheriff’s Office, detectives made an attempt to pull a car over that was driven by Shamblin’s girlfriend, Kayla Spoon, 27, or Oroville.

“During the attempted traffic stop, detectives realized Shamblin was also in the vehicle,” the release said. “Spoon immediately accelerated her vehicle, rammed an unmarked police vehicle, and almost hit a detective with her vehicle.”

A chase began through Oroville, during which Spoon allegedly rammed into another law enforcement vehicle. Eventually, Spoon crashed into a ditch on Mount Ida Road.

The release said after the crash, Shamblin pulled a gun on the detectives which turned into a physical fight. He allegedly drew a second gun and a knife before the detectives were finally able to place both Shamblin and Spoon under arrest.

Those with information regarding this case are being asked by the agencies to contact detectives at 538-7671 or 538-2448.
