SERIES: Dolphins lead 8-6. LAST MEETING: Dolphins won 43-17 on Oct. 11, 2020.

One of the NFL’s longest winning streaks will end Sunday afternoon at Levi’s Stadium as the 49ers, winners of four straight, will face the Dolphins, who have won five games in a row.

The 49ers boast the league’s top defense in yards and points allowed, having shut out their opponents in the second halves of four straight games. The Dolphins are just outside the NFL’s top five in offense, having scored 30 points or more in their last four.

Miami’s speedy receiver duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle will surely stretch the 49ers’ defense, and they have former Niners offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel scheming up plays to get them open. Passing the ball will be former Heisman Trophy winner Tua Tagovaiola, who has flourished in McDaniel’s Shanahan-inspired offense this season, winning each game he’s started and completed.

The Dolphins also have two ex-49ers in the backfield in Raheem Mostert (signed last offseason) and Jeff Wilson (acquired at the trade deadline). Mostert made noise this week about his departure from the 49ers, who he said were unhappy that he decided to take a longer rehabilitation path after a knee injury in last year’s opener.

Speaking of injuries, defensive lineman Arik Armstead is expected to return after missing seven games with foot and ankle issues. Offensive stars Deebo Samuel (quadriceps) and Trent Williams (back) entered Sunday listed as questionable on the 49ers’ injury report but are both active.
