Prince Philip’s funeral service on Saturday morning will be a small and intimate affair for the royal family to pay their last respects — but the event will also be broadcast live around the world.

When is the funeral for Prince Philip?
The funeral service itself will take place 10 a.m. Eastern Time — or 3 p.m. local time in the UK. It is expected to last around 50 minutes.
However, proceedings will begin 20 minutes earlier — at 9:40 a.m. EST — when Philip’s coffin will be taken from Windsor Castle in a procession featuring members of the royal family and flanked by members of the military.

The funeral will air live on US TV on CBS, NBC and ABC. It will also be livestreamed on CBS News, NBC News Now and ABC News Live.
All three networks plan to start their coverage at 9:30 a.m.
CBS’ coverage will be anchored by “CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King in New York. ABC’s will be led by “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir, with several correspondents in the UK.
Where is the funeral and what are the plans?
The service will take place at Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel.
Philip, officially the Duke of Edinburgh, passed away at the castle April 9 at age 99 — as it was reportedly his last wish to die at home.
The service will be a somber, but scaled-down affair, due to coronavirus concerns and to Philip’s own wishes for a low-key send-off.
British social-distancing rules allow only 30 people to attend — and they will not be allowed to sing — but a four-person choir will perform a selection of songs chosen by Philip from a distance in the nave.
Philip will be privately interred in the gothic chapel’s Royal Vault — until Queen Elizabeth dies, when he will be transferred to her side elsewhere in the chapel.
Who is attending?
The exclusive attendee list will include the top tier of the royal family, including the queen and her four children — Princes Charles, Andrew and Edward and Princess Anne — along with members of their families.
That includes Charles’ two sons with Princess Diana — heir to the throne Prince William and Prince Harry, who landed in the UK on Sunday. Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, has remained in the US, as she is currently pregnant.
Also in attendance will be two of the queen’s nieces, three of her first cousins, and a smattering of Philip’s family and friends.
