Sebastian Stan Talks Going Full Frontal, Filming Intimate Scenes with Denise Gough for 'Monday'

Sebastian Stan and Denise Gough both bare it all in their new movie Monday and they’re opening up about what it was like filming all of those intimate scenes.

The film follows Mickey and Chloe, two Americans in their mid-thirties living in Athens, who meet in the heat of summer one whirlwind weekend. The chemistry between them is undeniable. When Chloe’s time in Greece is drawing to a close, she decides to give up her high-flying job back home and explore whether one weekend’s passion can blossom into something more.

You might remember that paparazzi photos from the movie’s set were released back in November 2018, showing Sebastian and Denise wearing nothing at all while riding a scooter through the streets of Athens.

“If it was truthful and made sense, then OK. Obviously trust was a big thing here,” Sebastian told TheWrap about stripping down. “I knew we were trying to tell such an honest depiction of a relationship that we were going to be open to whatever that meant, as long as it remained truthful and made sense.”

Denise says that she initially didn’t think she could do the movie because of the sex scenes and how these scenes usually follow on the actress to do the heavy lifting. She told Refinery29, “Sebastian carried his side, so I didn’t ever feel like I’m being filmed now, having sex. The camera just kind of moved around and we pretended. And then we jumped in the sea.”

Sebastian added, “I think, as long as everything felt earned… and it did. With every scene, not just sex scenes or the nudity, it’s like, ‘What’s the most truthful thing here? They would be naked because they just did this. And that.’ It always felt safe that way.”
