Very interested since it will have had a lot of in development to be polished and ready, yet a little worrisome that they state it will straight tick off a ton of RE fans. Wonder which route they are taking that would do that for this release?

CharlesTGG1488d ago

Tbh by the time you reach an 8th entry in a series I feel you kind of have to try something new

KyRo1488d ago (Edited 1488d ago )

They have tried something new every 3 mainline games.

1-3 - fixed camera, horror
4-6 - Over the shoulder, action
7-??? First person, horror.

Also all the spins offs it's had, it's done a lot. It's hard to tell where it could go next. Maybe more super natural kind of how the original RE4 was going to be? Let's just hope it's not action again because they've been on a role lately.

Lore1488d ago

Really don’t think it would hurt for them to revolutionize/expand on the franchise with one of the upcoming entries similar to what they did for Monster Hunter with World.

-Foxtrot1488d ago

But they’ve done something great with the remakes

Why change that, it works really well

Expand and improve on that, those remakes show third person is still relevant.

Spurg1488d ago

It has to be in third person...that's the staple of resident evil and something that it pioneered not like resident evil 7 change in perspective.
For me, Resident Evil 7 was an experiment and should have been called something else rather than be part of the main series.

CharlesTGG1488d ago

Yeah that's a fair assessment tbh it felt like a spin-off

goldwyncq1488d ago

It felt much more closer to a resident evil game than 6.

CrimsonWing691488d ago

Rumors say it’s in first person and will support VR. I personally was one of those people that whines and moaned about it being in first person until I played it. The crazy thing is it actually worked and the VR was exceptional. That being said, I’m on with it going back to first person perspective but I’d really like the series to go in the direction of the Remake games.

CharlesTGG1488d ago

The first person perspective certainly brought the horror element back to the franchise that I missed, many times I was genuinely scared playing RE7

Prubar1488d ago

I really did enjoy RE7 but I was hoping it had a little more to do with the franchise as a whole. For example before the game released I had a theory it was a prequel and that the Bakers family were like a patient zero scenario where Umbrella tested on them before the Mansion.
If they do make another FPS I hope it ties in in more clever ways.

Poopmist1488d ago

Horror games are better in 1st person

Kabaneri1488d ago

I agree, in 3rd person you can see behind your character which ruins the suspense of not knowing whats behind you.

KyRo1488d ago

Not always. I genuinely believe fixed camera can be just as good. Using sound to create fear from something you can't see off screen can be more scary than a cheap, FPS jump scare which a lot of FPS horror games rely on.

Open world Resident Evil RPG ??

Nacho_Z1488d ago

"It's by far the biggest departure the series has ever taken"

It'll be interesting to see what this means. By far suggests that changing from third person to first or becoming more action oriented like Resi 4 are insignificant in comparison. Wtf is it going to be, a 2D dating sim? I always figured it'd be a bigger scale follow up to 7.

mezati991488d ago

there was rumor a while back about this one, IIRC the leaker said it has werewolves in it and it was set in medieval times

carcarias1488d ago

Interesting. Well, that certainly would be a departure. A day later and I'd have assumed it was an April's Fool you were pulling ;)

-Foxtrot1488d ago

That sounds terrible

Sounds like a new IP

Eternal Darkness was way ahead of its time especially for a Nintendo exclusive.

I would love to see a remake or sequel (multiplatform)

This Feature Makes Lethal Company Scarier Than Resident Evil

Games like Lethal Company end up scary because of their freeform nature, while Resident Evil's polish and storytelling ultimately make them rather tame in comparison. Agree or disagree?
