Yesterday, developer Yacht Club Games announced its new game, Shovel Knight Dig, and posted updates on spin offs Shovel Knight Showdown and Shovel Knight: King of Cards.

Shovel Knight Dig will be the next adventure for the critically acclaimed indie pixel platformer. The Drill Knight nicked Shovel Knight’s bounty, and the hero will chase after him in an underground undertaking. The game departs from side-scrolling and its 8-bit art style, but exciting items and power ups will still be vital for clearing the levels and beating its bosses. Yacht Club Games will partner with Nitrome to produce Shovel Knight Dig, and we’ll hold tight until we hear a launch date or the platforms it will release onto.

A new trailer for Shovel Knight Showdown dropped too. Shovel Knight Showdown is a fighting game that will feature multiple modes, like a two player duel, four player last man standing, a co-operative team battle, and a story campaign. 16 characters from the series comprise the roster set against Shovel Knight levels and unseen new stages, and will be a local multiplayer game for PC and consoles. Showdown will be available as its own game and as a free update to the Shovel Knight Treasure Trove collection.

And, Shovel Knight: King of Cards is a prequel that pits the King Knight against three kings that preside over four all-new worlds in the series’ ‘biggest and most grandest single player campaign yet’. King Knight has unique new weapons, armor, and abilities to traverse the levels to victory, and his game will also be part of the Treasure Trove and available as a standalone title.

So, what is the Treasure Trove? It’s a collection of all the games in the series so far coming to all major platforms. It doesn’t include Shovel Knight Dig, of course, but it sounds like absolutely fabulous news for Shovel Knight devotees. A digital and physical edition is on offer, with the former priced at £18.99 and the latter at £39.99. Three Amiibos of Plague Knight, Specter Knight, and King Knight were announced to celebrate the big bundle, and will unlock challenges and new armor sets in the individual games the characters hail from.

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove will be available for PC, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, 3DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One at some point in the future. Watch the Shovel Knight Dig announcement trailer below.
