Another one bites the dust (times five). Joey Lucchesi’s season is over. Jeurys Familia will now miss at least a few weeks. Robert Gsellman is likely out until September. Jonathan Villar and Tomas Nido left Monday’s doubleheader with injuries. This team just can not catch a break when it comes to staying healthy, even as they got reinforcements Monday, Michael Conforto Tuesday and were expecting more this weekend.

- DEGROM/DOUBLEHEADER: Jacob deGrom dazzled again through five innings, giving up only one hit in left-center field. Luis Rojas needs to start letting him go deeper into games, especially if he’s OK to be out there every five days. Jerad Eickhoff wasn’t incredible, but gave them four scoreless frames. They needed to find a way to get a run home in second game, a 1-0 loss.
- INJURIES/PITCHING: Injuries are depleting the pitching staff. They need to find a starting pitcher now to replace Lucchesi. Who could they go after? How long might Jeurys Familia be out? Jonathan Villar left Monday’s second game with another injury to the same leg. Tomas Nido left the first game after getting hit by a pitch. The injuries keep mounting. Mets have the best ERA in baseball, but are 29th in runs per game. The lineup needs to get better. Figgie also critiques my scoreboard dance moves at Monday night’s game.

- PATRICK MAHOMES: Tried to get his son to play baseball. Knew he was a great QB, was not sure how his skills would translate in the NFL. Glad he chose football. Having him come to his baseball games when he was a kid and becoming a Mets fan at a young age.
- HIS TIME WITH METS: 1999 Game 6 of the NLCS was his best Mets moment. Grew up a Mets fan and loved being able to pitch for them.
