Looking to take in a show but overwhelmed by the amount of choices?  Look no further. "On Stage" host Frank DiLella will be curating a list of “must-see” shows every week, directing you to the best of Broadway, off-Broadway and beyond. Here's his picks for this week.

“The Piano Lesson” at The Ethel Barrymore Theatre

Catch it before it closes this weekend. Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington and Danielle Brooks star in a must-see revival of August Wilson’s “The Piano Lesson.” The show is set to shutter at The Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Sunday.

 

“Asi Wind’s Inner Circle” at The Judson Theatre

On the off-Broadway front, David Blaine is currently presenting “Asi Wind’s Inner Circle.” Billed as the most intimate magic show anyone will ever experience. Asi is truly one of the greatest magicians to encounter. And what he can do with cards must be seen to be believed. The show is playing at The Judson Theatre right by Washington Square Park.

 

Copland Dance Episodes at Lincoln Center

At Lincoln Center, New York City Ballet’s resident choreographer Justin Peck is currently presenting his first full-evening work, set to the music of Aaron Copland and the design of artist Jeffrey Gibson. Copland Dance Episodes is playing now through Tuesday, Feb. 7.

 

“Back By Popular Demand” at Birdland Jazz Club

Over at Birdland Jazz Club, Broadway funny lady Julie Halston returns to the stage with an encore performance of her new one woman show, “Back By Popular Demand.” Expect to get dish on the Royals, Kate Moss and nude sunbathers. Halston is at Birdland Monday night.

“An Evening of Reckoning and Rising with V (formerly Eve Ensler)” at 92nd Street Y New York

And finally, moving uptown to the 92nd Street Y New York, it will be a star-studded night on Wednesday, Feb. 1 with an “An Evening of Reckoning and Rising with V (formerly Eve Ensler).” The Tony winner will read from her latest book, “The Reckoning,” which chronicles 40 years of the writer and activist’s life.

The event takes place in honor of the 25th anniversary of V-Day, which was started by V. V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against all women, girls and the planet.  

Other notable names set to participate in the presentation include Rosario Dawson, Noma Dumezweni, Dylan McDermott, Cynthia Nixon and Marisa Tomei.
