Titans’ A.J. Brown blames nurse for bizarre post-op Instagram video

A.J. Brown is taking some responsibility for embarrassing the Tennessee Titans.

He’s also blaming his nurse.

The third-year wide receiver revealed Tuesday that he had surgery on both knees, played through pain since Week 2 and promised to become “the best receiver in the NFL.” He also engaged in a back-and-forth with an off-camera nurse during an Instagram live video shot from his bed while wearing his hospital gown.

Now, Brown is apologizing for what sounded like a loopy rant.

“Hi everyone,” Brown wrote on Twitter. “I’m doing fine post surgery. I’m really embarrassed that I did that. Even though it was funny to many, I didn’t find it funny. I’m sorry I embarrassed the Titans organization because that is not who I am at all. It’s really the nurse fault [by the way].”

Brown totaled 1,075 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns for the AFC South champions.

“I was sore all year,” Brown said. “Nobody knew. They told me I was done for the year, like, in Week 2. I played all year. I ended up making the Pro Bowl. Didn’t know how I was going to do it. I did it.”

Brown seemed stunned to learn he had a tube down his throat after reacting to a soda that was too cold. The nurse mentioned it was needed for him to breathe while under anesthesia and packed up his pain and nausea medicine – sounding nothing but professional over the two-plus minutes.

Brown said he was leaving the hospital with his father, but didn’t want him in the room because he was “going to record me.” Perhaps Brown forgot he was recording a live feed to his 281,000 followers, including a pop-in appearance by Titans teammate Derrick Henry.
