Driver says he ‘blacked out’ before crashing Mercedes into Trump Plaza

The driver who crashed his Mercedes-Benz into the lobby of Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, hitting a concierge, told cops he “blacked out” before the mishap, according to a report.

The 63-year-old from Larchmont was driving north on LeCount Place about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday and planned to make a left onto Huguenot Street – but went through the traffic light and into the building, The Journal News reported.

He had no signs of impairment and appeared to suffer a medical condition that contributed to the crash, cops told the news outlet.

The unidentified driver and Trump Plaza’s concierge, a 41-year-old man, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Building resident Deena Grotto said she was taking the elevator to the lobby to walk her dog when she heard a loud boom.

“The elevator opened and there was broken glass and some smoke all over the lobby,” Grotto told the newspaper Wednesday.

“I just closed the elevator door and I went back upstairs because I was scared,” she added.

The 39-story plaza, which was completed in 2007, includes a heated swimming pool, rooftop deck, kids’ playroom, fitness center and business center.
