6 of the most romantic restaurants in the U.S. in 2024 are in New England, according to OpenTable

Couples are served a healthy side of romance with their meals at six restaurants across New England, according to OpenTable diners.

The online restaurant reservation service company released a list of the 100 most romantic restaurants in America for 2024 and included the following six regional spots: Earth at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport, Maine; Ristorante Massimo in Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Chanterelle and White Horse Tavern, both in Newport, Rhode Island; and J. Gilbert’s Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood in Glastonbury, Connecticut, and Millwright’s Restaurant in Simsbury, Connecticut.

“Food is its own love language, but when it’s served in a cozy room or a candlelit booth? Guaranteed fireworks,” wrote OpenTable.

The standout New England restaurants all ooze ambiance.

Couples dining at Earth at Hidden Pond nibble cuisine that is “farm to fork” fresh beside walls made from the trees chopped down to clear the land, according to the restaurant’s website. And Italian restaurant Ristorante Massimo is located in historic downtown Portsmouth.

In Newport, couples eat upscale French and American cuisine in a 1785 Georgian-style house at Chanterelle, and the 1673 White Horse Tavern says it serves diners in rooms with “colonial charm.”

In Connecticut, J. Gilbert’s Wood Fired Steaks & Seafood is billed as “one of Glastonbury’s finest hidden gems,” and at Millwright’s Restaurant, folks experience farm-fresh American fine dining in a formal room with views of the falls, or a loft, tavern, or enclosed bridge.
