Myanmar to hold 16th flower festival

YANGON, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's 16th Pyin Oo Lwin flower festival will be held at National Kandawgyi Gardens in the namesake township of the central Mandalay Region, from Dec. 16, 2023 to Jan. 14, 2024, an official from National Kandawgyi Gardens said Monday.

This year's event will showcase advanced landscape designs and colorful flower beds to attract more tourists, he told Xinhua.

The festival aims to boost the floral industry as well as the tourism sector in the Southeast Asian country.

The opening ceremony will be held on Dec. 17. Entertainment programs, sales events, and local product fairs will be on the agenda.

Over 200,000 domestic and foreign seasonal flowers, with about 40 species, will be displayed during the festival.
