The 2019 New Yorker Festival was the twentieth edition of the annual event—and it was particularly star-studded. This program features three of the highlights from that weekend: Kenan Thompson, the longest-running cast member on “Saturday Night Live”; Hasan Minhaj, the “Daily Show” veteran whose Netflix show, “Patriot Act,” won both an Emmy and a Peabody Award; and the British folksinger Laura Marling, who talks about finding her voice in Los Angeles.

The comedian discusses fatherhood, testifying before Congress, and telling Ellen DeGeneres how to pronounce his name.

In seventeen years on the program, the performer has seen the cast diversify and adapt to “these woke times.”

The British folksinger Laura Marling listened to a lot of Joni Mitchell growing up, and she went to California to find herself musically.
