The Last of Us 2 has been a devise game. Despite rave reviews, it’s been getting review-bombed by annoyed fans. Voice actor for the characters Abby, Laura Bailey, has even received death threats.

The treats are apparently due to one of the shocking moments that occur through the course of the game. She’s not the only one either. Death threats have been flying at Neil Druckmann, the game’s director, since May .

What the hell is wrong with people?

No One From the Last of Us 2 Deserves Your Hate

No one deserves to receive death threats over a video game. It doesn’t matter if you don’t like it. Just don’t do it.

Threatening Laura Bailey, or anyone, with death because of something happening to a fictional character, is complete insanity. These threats are a startling reminder of a miserable sub-section within the gaming community.

The Last of Us 2 shows us that a mental health conversation needs to be had somewhere. One of the senders of a death threat even apologized . They stated that in that particular moment, their mental state had tanked due to an on-screen event.

On the one hand, these characters provoke strong emotions in people. On the other, things aren’t going well if your immediate reaction is to threaten an actor over it.

You’re Just Ruining Any Valid Points Others Had

There are valid criticisms to be made of The Last of Us 2. Some people just don’t enjoy the game as much as the critics do. The peripheral problem caused by these threats is that it overshadows any legit points people had to make.

Suddenly, anyone who doesn’t like The Last of Us 2 is either a bigot or someone who spews threats at people. Not that this matters as much as threats to life.

The threats to Laura Bailey are the most serious. No one who is merely playing a role should have to suffer this kind of abuse. The actor who played Jar Jar Binks nearly killed himself after he got threats from rabid Star Wars fans.

Maybe the gaming community needs more work than we thought it did.
