Video shows driver plow into Seattle protesters, leaving two seriously hurt

A car in Seattle plowed into protesters on a closed freeway Saturday, sending bodies flying.

Two women marching in another round of George Floyd protests were seriously hurt after a white vehicle tossed them into the air, according to video of the incident.

Dawit Kelete, 27, of Seattle was taken into custody, and troopers expected him to be charged sometime Saturday with several felonies.

Summer Taylor, 24, of Seattle, was in critical condition at a hospital while Diaz Love, 32, of Portland, Ore., was in serious condition in the intensive care unit, officials said.

Capt. Ron Mead told reporters the driver wasn’t drunk and authorities were investigating if the crash was a “targeted attack.”

Mead also warned demonstrators to stay away from highways.

“My hope is the result of this tragedy, the protesters will reconsider their desire to be on the interstate because I cannot guarantee their safety, plain and simple,” he said.
