Anya Taylor Joy spills the beans on her ‘Spy-Oriented' wedding

Anya Taylor Joy finally talked about her ‘secret’ wedding with American actor Malcolm McRae.

Wishing her husband a “Happy second (first) anniversary”, the Queen's Gambit actress spilled the beans about her ‘magical’ wedding day, revealing when she really got married.

Debunking the speculations that she got married in October 2023, Anya confirmed that the pair got married in April 2022, in New Orleans.

“Two years ago, on April Fools, I secretly married my best friend in New Orleans”, she wrote in an Instagram post

“The magic of that day is ingrained in every cell of my being, forever”, added the Primetime Emmy Award winner.

Now, talking to Entertainment Tonight at the CinemaCon, she also mentioned what made the occasion more ‘special’ and revealed, “[It was made] all the more special 'cause it just felt like a secret that we got to keep to ourselves”.

Tying the knot in a private ceremony, the duo got married in the presence of their two best friends only. However, they celebrated their union a few months later with their family.

“We did our research, we were like pretty spy-orientated", said Anya reflecting on her marriage, “We ran away with our two best friends and had the most magical day possible”.
