Sony will probably ship 120 million PS4s by Christmas 2020 or by Spring 2021 at the very least.

If PS4 gets a pricecut within the year, 140-150 million PS4s by 2022 seems within range of actually happening.

Here we are less than 6 months away from PS5’s release and PS4 is still being sold at a premium price.

You’d think a 7 year old console wouldn’t still be sold for $300-$400 but 112.3 million means Sony can get away with it

Some good news in this report,

Ps4 and its ecosystem still doing well,

“Although production of PlayStation 4 hardware was slightly impacted due to issues in the component supply chain, these issues have now been addressed. Sales of game software that is downloaded from the network, as well as PlayStation Plus (“PS Plus”) and PlayStation Now subscriber numbers, have significantly increased.

Services and player engagement is up,

"Incidentally, further details about the gaming business’ performance reveal that the PlayStation Plus subscriber total was at 44.9 million as of June 30. On the other hand, PlayStation Network had 113 million monthly active users."

The ps5 is on track,

"Regarding the launch of PlayStation 5 (“PS5”), although factors such as constraints due to employees working from home and restrictions on international travel remain, necessary measures are being taken and preparations are underway with the launch of the console scheduled for the 2020 holiday season."

Sonys devs not hit with any issues,

"At this time, no major problems have arisen in the game software development pipeline for Sony’s own first-party studios or its partners’ studios.”

This gen is coming to a close for me and next gen is coming fast, looks to be on track and I'm getting excited again lol.

PlayStation isn’t going anywhere. Say what you want but that many people aren’t buying it just cause of the name.

The story isn't the console sales it's the massive increase in software sales YoY. PS4 sold nearly double the amount of software as last year during the same time period.

Vgchartz current numbers continue to be off, they had Xbox one at 50+ and corrected it to below. And they had Ps4 at 112 million the last 2-3 months and makes me wonder if switch is really at 60 million units

Sales are important the reason the PS5 is coming along. I thought I saw those same numbers a couple of months ago.

Impressive but honestly they provided the best value this gen hands down I've been more than satisfied with my purchase
