OAKLAND — Kaiser Permanente will honor the late Bernard J. Tyson in a public viewing Sunday in Oakland, followed by an invitation-only service Monday at Chase Center in San Francisco.
The chairman and chief executive officer of Kaiser unexpectedly passed away in his sleep Nov. 10. The cause of Tyson’s death was not disclosed. He was 60 years old.
Tyson, a Bay Area native, was named CEO of the Oakland-based health care giant in 2013 and chairman of its board of directors in 2014. He worked for the Oakland-based health care organization for more than 34 years, serving in roles ranging from hospital administrator to division president.
Tyson is survived by his wife Denise Bradley-Tyson, and three sons Bernard J. Tyson Jr., Alexander and Charles.
The public viewing will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Oakland Rotunda, 300 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Oakland.
