Daniel Jones wasn’t yet born last time Giants played in LA

As the great Randy Newman wrote, “From the South Bay to the Valley. From the West Side to the East Side. Everybody’s very happy. ’Cause the sun is shining all the time. Look like another perfect day. I love LA.’’

These Giants know nothing about LA.

Daniel Jones was not born the last time this happened. Joe Judge was 12 years old. “I’ll Make Love To You’’ by Boyz II Men was No. 1 on the Billboard chart and “Seinfeld’’ edged out “ER” as the top-rated TV show. The Giants face the Rams on Sunday at brand-new (and by all accounts magnificent) SoFi Stadium.

The last time the Giants played a game in Los Angeles was 26 years ago, when on Oct. 16, 1994, they lost to the Rams 17-10. That was Dan Reeves’ second year as the head coach and the third of what would be seven consecutive losses.

After that season, the Rams moved to the Midwest and spent the next 21 years in St. Louis. The Giants played three road games against the Raiders when they were based in Los Angeles (1982-94), most recently in 1992, and did not play the Chargers on the road the past four years after their move to LA.

The winless Giants are 12.5-point underdogs to the Rams, who are 2-1 after beating the Cowboys and Eagles and losing in the last seconds in Week 3 to the Bills in Buffalo. It is doubtful the Giants will love LA after this trip.
