Oklahoma teen fatally shot at party by man allegedly playing with gun

Guns and shots are never a good mix.

An Oklahoma teenager was killed at a party when a fellow reveler allegedly began playing with guns and shot her in the head, reports said Wednesday.

Autumn Cannady, 18, was at the small gathering Saturday night about 40 miles south of Tulsa when another partygoer — Marcus Patterson, 19 — “began playing with a firearm,” Sgt. Aaron Swayze of the Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office told People.

“In doing so, he discharged the firearm, striking her in the head,” Swayze told the outlet.

“There was a small party of probably less than about 10 people … Some of the people had been drinking,” the sheriff continued.

Cannady, who died just one month before her 19th birthday, was rushed to a Tulsa hospital but could not be saved, according to the outlet and a GoFundMe page set up to help with her funeral expenses.

Patterson was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, the outlet reported.

Cannady’s family, who hail from New Mexico, wrote on the GoFundMe page they need assistance getting her remains back to her hometown.

“Autumn Cannady was tragically murdered a month before her 19th birthday. Unfortunately this happened to her in Oklahoma and her family is located in New Mexico and needs to bring her back to lay her to rest in Carlsbad, NM,” the GoFundMe page reads.

“Nothing could have ever prepared our family for this. We are asking for prayers and donations for funeral expenses if possible, if you can’t, please just share,” it pleads.
