Hideo Kojima's Silent Hill reboot Silent Hills will never see the light of day--at least not in the manner he originally envisioned--but the demo P.T. lives on in the hard drives of horror fans everywhere. Unfortunately, however, that's where it's going to stay. As confirmed by GamesRadar, the "playable teaser" will not be backwards compatible on the PS5 in any form.

In an email to GamesRadar, Konami said that "the content will not be available on the PS Store, so users won’t be able to re-download the content through the backwards compatibility feature to the PS5."

Now Playing: Resident Evil 7 Finishes What Silent Hills Started - Reboot

This apparently wasn't always the case. The game was previously working on the system, according to Polygon and GamesRadar, before it suddently stopped working. It's possible a software update disabled the "game" on the PS5.

Generally considered one of the most influential horror games of the 2010's--despite its short length and relative unavailability, due to its removal from the PlayStation Store in 2015--P.T. continues to be the subject of analysis and study. Back in 2019, prolific hacker Lance McDonald discovered that Lisa is behind you through the entirety of the game, and McDonald managed to step into the abandoned town itself in a follow-up video. Fans continue to hope for a Silent Hill reboot, though Konami denied the swirling rumors of such a move back in March.
