Sean @ FG: The retro-inspired bliss of Death Ray Manta SE has arrived on the Switch and it’s like a hug from Jeff Minter. The Finger Guns Review.
Ross @ FG: This week on the 80th episode of The Finger Guns Podcast, Rossko, Sean, Greg and Toby talk the PS5 UI Interface, the Monster Hunter trailer – which is definitely something – and our most wanted games for November (it’s mostly talking Cyberpunk and not having enough money to buy everything…as per usual).
Indie Corner also makes a return along with a ‘1998 Games’ Trivia Challenge and chatting Cloudpunk on PS4, 9 Monkeys of Shaolin, Toby’s first blast on Resident Evil 7 and much more.
Keep on rollin’ baby, you know what time it is.
Death Ray Manta is pure ’80s arcade, but the way we’d like to remember it rather than how it actually was.
BNR: Ah, top-down shooters- one of the more arcade-ey genres with a measure of popularity today, there are quite a few of them on the market. Assuming you’ve played Asteroids (which drew inspiration from what many consider to be the first video game, SpaceWars) and want some more, which are worth your time? Don’t despair; my personal top-five is here! these are games that I personally really enjoyed- if you’re into top-down (also known as twin-stick) shooters, you’ll want to check these out.
My personal favorite TDS of all time is Dead Nation by House Marque. I loved that game so much, and clocked so many hours into it. Can't wait for Alienation.
